The career I am going into is Marketing. Marketing is a very broad field. This field would include advertising, public relations, promotions, sales, and marketing managers. Within each field of marketing there are different subjects. I am mainly interested in the entertainment or sports marketing fields. I would like to work with promotions, PR, or advertising. This field interests me because I am creative, which is important in a lot of areas in this field, and I have a passion for the entertainment and sports industries. This is a great way for me to connect with those interests. I feel like if I get a job when I graduate that is similar to what my internship will be like, then I will love my job and it won't really feel like just a job to me. Job titles would include Marketing managers, Sales executives, or sales managers, Promotions team, Advertiser, etc. Marketing managers develop the firm’s marketing strategy in detail. Advertising managers oversee advertising and promotion staffs, which usually are small, except in the largest firms. Promotions managers supervise staffs of promotions specialists. These managers direct promotions programs that combine advertising with purchase incentives to increase sales. Public relations managers supervise public relations specialists. These managers direct publicity programs to a targeted audience. Sales managers direct the firm’s sales program. They assign sales territories, set goals, and establish training programs for the sales representatives. Marketing majors can make anywhere from $30,000 a year to $400,000 a year after years of experience and the proper degree. The education needed for this field is usually a bachelor's or master's degree in Business Administration, with a focus in Marketing. For advertising and the PR side, however, a journalism or public relations degree would be useful.  Skills needed for these jobs would include computer experience (using the Internet, excel, word, and various other Microsoft and computer programs), Communication and social skills, sometimes foreign language would be beneficial. These students should be mature, creative, highly motivated, resistant to stress, flexible, and decisive. Computer skills are vital because marketing, product promotion, and advertising on the Internet are increasingly common.
